    SO STINKING TRUE!!

Read this quote today and said “AMEN” as loud as I’ve ever said it…

In nothing has the church so lost Her hold on reality as in Her failure to understand and respect the secular vocation. She has allowed work and religion to become separate departments, and is astonished to find that, as a result, the secular work of the world is turned to purely selfish and destructive ends, and that the greater part of the world’s intelligent workers have become irreligious, or at least, uninterested in religion. But is it astonishing? How can anyone remain interested in a religion, which seems to have no concern with nine-tenths of life? The church’s approach to an intelligent carpenter is usually confined to exhorting him not to be drunk and disorderly in his leisure hours, and to come to church on Sundays. What the church should be telling him is this: that the very first demand that his religion makes on him is to make good tables.”
    Dorothy Sayers

    Pleasing God

Hey guys and gals.. I just finished up a new sermon series called “Pleasing God” the rules of relationship. The rules are not what you think. They aren’t a list of do’s and dont’s. The series talked about three relational habits that will cause your intimacy with God to hit new heights. Hope you enjoy it. Here are the links to the three sermons.

Part One – The Rule of Pursuit

Part Two – The Rule of Change

Part Three – The Rule of Faith

    The Truth Hurts

I’ve seen it so many times in golf, and so many times it goes unnoticed. After watching Tiger cuss his way through the weekend and my son asking me why he keeps saying Jesus when he is a Buddhist. I was able to show Judah what makes golf such a special sport. Today, in a sudden death playoff, Brian Davis called a two stroke penalty on himself for barely touching a loose stick on his back swing. His first American tour victory in the balance and he calls a penalty on himself that cost him not only hundreds of thousands of dollars, but something he has dreamed about. That’s the beautiful thing about the rules of golf. They are not gray, they are black and white. Judah was absolutely blown away by what Mr. Davis did. He talked about it the rest of the night and he asked me if I thought he could be an honest man too. I know sport isn’t everything, but for me sport has meant so much to me and has taught me so many lessons. It was really cool to have a stranger on TV teach my son something honorable instead of all the garbage that is on TV these days. YAHOO sports article about Mr. Davis link below

Tiger.. Stop Working And Come To Jesus

Interesting thoughts from Tiger Woods on Buddhism. The contrast between Buddhism and Christianity is pretty clear. Jesus paid the price.. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.”

An excerpt from an interview with Tiger Woods about Buddhism bracelet. Source Yahoo Sports Story

“I practice meditation — that is something that I do, that my mum [sic] taught me over the years. We also have a thing we do every year, where we go to temple together,” he said. “In the Buddhist religion you have to work for it yourself, internally, in order to achieve anything in life and set up the next life. It is all about what you do and you get out of it what you put into it. So you are going to have to work your butt off in every aspect of your life.”

And as he admitted Sunday, he’s got plenty of work ahead.

Tiger.. Give you life to Jesus!! The work you are trying to do internally can only be done by becoming a new creature in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Robbie, thank you for drawing attention to an area that I call a blanket of silence. Lot of women and men suffer from shame, fear of being judged and just a really painful experience of an abortion – no one talks about it because no one knows what to do with it…. but there are places now who speak the love of Jesus and equip folks with knowledge of TRUTH to bring those who need to make that decision to a right decision — a decision one can live with down the road with out the shame, fear of being judged, and the damage of wounded spirit that abortion brings. Some who go through abortion never experience the hurt or shame… but I often wonder, do they just not know the TRUTH of the sin and don’t want to know? Is that their defense mechanism?
