Pastor Jabin has been blogging about his conference speakers this year and why he loves them. I thought it would be appropriate for someone to write about him. I met Pastor Jabin over 5 years ago in New York and I can honestly say that my life is better because Jabin is my friend.

Why I love Jabin Chavez:

1. He is loyal: I have never heard one negative word about anyone come out of his or his wife’s (Shanen) mouth. You don’t know how many youth pastors cry about how their pastor is holding them back and if they only had a leader like so in so and they don’t get paid enough. As a pastor it has blessed me to see his unwavering support and love for his pastors Benny and Wendy Perez.

2. He is full of joy: He reminds me of my mom Theresa. I laugh harder when I’m around him. I want to be funnier because of him. My kids want to be around him and Shanen when they come to town. No better sign of Joy than when children want to spend time with you. Some guys can preach and some guys you want to play golf with, take your families on vacation with… he’s both.

3. He makes God bigger: When I hear him preach or when I spend time talking to him, God’s ability, God’s faithfulness, God’s love for me seems bigger than I thought it was.

Why I Left Facebook

So, I’m not on Facebook anymore and I’m loving it! I do miss the ability to connect with people I haven’t seen in a long time. However, you can still follow me on twitter and I’ll follow you back so we can communicate that way. I actually think Facebook is cool. I left because ……………….. I don’t know??!! I know that’s a crazy answer, but I just don’t know. I know a few little things I didn’t like about it, but none of them where reason enough to leave. I do know I’m much happier without it. Maybe, being out of the loop or not knowing everything that’s going on in everybody’s life is a good thing. I feel more freedom when I preach. I feel less awkward around people in church. I don’t have to wonder if your status is directed at me and you don’t have to wonder if mine is directed at you. I’m getting less compliment sandwich emails. You know when you say “hey you’re great, but you stink, but you’re great.”

I hear you saying it now… I just ignore all the drama of Facebook. I said it too, but the truth is.. it affected me sometimes. I might be back… I might not. I just know Facebook is not bad it’s just not me right now.

Just wanted to take a minute and say thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family and been there for us during this time. Loretta Pritchard was an incredible woman of God. We were absolutely blessed to know her! Please continue to pray for the family. My grandfather, Nathan, loved/loves her so much. He needs us now more than ever. God Bless Ya’ll…
