    Value His Presence

My confidence comes from knowing that God is with me. I don’t want to ever get to a point in my life where I am satisfied with a life full of things, but void of God’s presence. I would rather live my life as a beggar and have God than rich and healthy just to hear him say “leave me I never knew you”. Of course you can have things and still love God. I just want to make sure that my focus is never on things. Relationship with God is what Jesus died for and anyone who tells you different is lying to you. It is so easy to get to a place where you assume God is with you because things aren’t bad in your life. I pray that you and I would both realize the necessity of fellowship with God, before we suffer major loss because we fought battles without him.

Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…

    No Place Like Home

Just got back home on Saturday from Baton Rouge, LA. The youth conference at Pastor Joel Stockstill’s church was a life changing experience, and I mean that. I took a lot of pictures and video from the conference and I wanted you to hear a little part of Judah Smith’s message on Wednesday morning. Pastor Judah, I believe, is one of the best preachers I’ve heard. Check it out!

Pastor Judah Smith | Look At The Stars

All I can say is…I am tired of my point of view! Last night I heard a message that has changed my life forever. God is so much bigger than my tent. I have been pastoring for 8 years. Over that period of time, I have allowed my point of view to be determined by what happened to me. I have limited God based on my past experiences and when God wanted to give me the stars I’ve settled for the limitations of my tent. NEVER AGAIN! God can do anything…no matter how long it takes…just believe!!!

Matt and I caught the end of that message…and what we heard was awesome! The other very cool thing is our Pastor just spoke on that same subject “Look at the Stars” two Sundays ago!!! God is speaking the same thing to everyone! I agree we keep our limitations within our tent too much but God is calling us out with a bigger plan and picture!
I am glad you were able to be there and enjoy a time in God’s presence with your friends!

    220 Conference

Man…last night was great. I love being in a worship service lead by Jonathan Stockstill. The young people and youth pastors that are here want God. They aren’t really interested in the schedule of speakers, I really believe they are here to meet God. The message Joel Stocktill preached was awesome! He talked about how our generation is a prophetic generation. Prophetic generations can’t be labeled because they are hard to understand. A prophetic generation must be like Samuel…he was a servant…he was submitted…he was hungry…and he knew how to hear to voice of God. I am looking forward to this morning, I think Judah Smith will be preaching today. Really, it doesn’t matter who speaks this morning…God is moving and I really don’t care who he is using!!! -Robbie

I will write again either tonight or early in the morning…

    The Celtics Are Too Strong

I was wrong…sooooooo wrong about the Lakers! They are the softest team I have seen in the Finals since the Orlando Magic were destroyed a few years ago. I missed it! I really thought Kobe was the closest thing to Michael Jordan I have seen, but his inability to inspire his teammates in the third quarter was disappointing. Last night I watched one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history and for a little while, the NBA seemed okay again.

Celtics Rule Baby! BEAN TOWN! BEAN TOWN! Growing as a diehard Larry Bird fan I have always been anti-laker and definitely anti-Kobe. The fact they try and compare him to Jordan makes me not like him more.

This is just further proof that kobe cant win a championship by himself. They never shouldve gotten rid of shaq. Not even Odom is a good enough replacement. Lakers need a dominant center.

I cant wait to see Boston errupt when the celtics win the series at home.

    Such A Burden

Why does living for God seem like a burden to some people? Because, they are serving God with the wrong motives. They are serving for what they can get out of it, and not just because they love Him.

Matthew 13:44-46 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

When you live for God because you are obligated to, your relationship can become very dry and difficult. You should live for God because nothing else can compare to the joy of knowing Him. In this passage, Jesus gives us an illustration of what the Kingdom of God is like. First, there was the discovery of the treasure and an awareness of its worth. Secondly note his heart motivation: “…in his JOY, he went out and sold all he had…” The treasure and the knowledge that he could possess brought him joy. It was not a sacrifice. It was not a burden. It was a joy. Even though it cost him everything he had—the sacrifice of the merchant was nothing compared to possessing the treasure. Giving up everything allows us to be dead to sin and alive to Christ. He is our treasure and His kingdom’s rule in our lives is the why we were created—the hope, the peace, the life, and the love that only He can give.

One reason we serve from obligation and burden is because we misunderstand what the NT command “serve the Lord” means. There is a way to serve the Lord that is a turn-off to Him, and a way that’s a sweet smelling aroma to Him.

It’s the difference between approaching God clothed in our own works vs. receiving grace from Him to do the works on our behalf. One approach relies on our efforts to please God. The other relies on CHRIST SERVING US FIRST, and then we let it affect us and our response to Him and others. (ie. “The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve…”)

Generally speaking, we in church get this mixed up almost as much as the world. We begin in grace, but then shift back to works as we “serve the Lord.”

The “works” approach can’t help but feed the pride in us that says, “I deserve glory for what I’ve done. God, You owe me now.” (Gosh, how many times I have seen this in my own heart.)

The “grace” approach lays an axe to the root of pride and self-glorification and says, “God, You owe me nothing good. I need You.” The cool thing is that God in turn shows grace to the humble… the very thing that the humble one knows is his only hope. This grace causes the humble one to view God as the treasure worth living and dying for. His response to God is now the kind of worship that pleases God.

The question then becomes, “Who is the one giving?” Because, based on 1 Peter 4:11, the giver gets the glory.

    Summer Time

ok…i have to admit, the summer is not my favorite time of the year! when being outside for more than an hour could burn my pale face off, you must understand why the fall is my favorite season. other than the sun being ridiculous, the summer is cool because the kids are out of school and they are home everyday, I mean who doesn’t love that! and to top it off, we are going to an even hotter place…orlando…for our vacation! WHY!!!!!!! cause that’s where disney world is and where monica and i get to chase our kids around in 1000 degree weather. let’s call the summer what it is…the armpit of satan and pray that october gets here in a hurry!

just for fun…don’t get mad – Robbie :)
