    The Promise

Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

    What Are You Hiding From?

Proverbs 23:18 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

What are you ashamed of? What is it that eats at your conscience? What are you hiding from God and others? Shame doesn’t just involve mistakes you have made, but it can be mistakes that others have made toward you. Many people struggle with walking in their new nature because they were wounded in the past and have never brought it out in the open so they can find mercy. When we try and hide ourselves from the Lord mercy isn’t found. The enemy doesn’t just want you to sin, he wants you to hide your sin so that you live in shame and never prosper. God wants you to confess your sin so that He cans poor out His mercy in your life. Oh how we need the mercy of God. I’ve done some terrible things and people have done terrible things to me. If it weren’t for the mercy of God I would be living a secret life of guilt and anger. When I was younger, my family went through a very difficult time. A man in ministry was trying to hurt my family. I grew extremely angry with him and I secretly wanted to harm this man. One evening I finally got what I wanted, the man injured himself and I found myself happy about it. What an awful place to find yourself! Angry, bitter, and all because I kept my anger to myself. If I would have just turned the situation over to God, I would have found the mercy necessary to deal with anger I felt. One evening I finally sat down with my dad and told him how I was feeling and I can’t describe the weight that was lifted off my shoulders. I didn’t just feel better about myself; I felt the mercy of God poured out in my life like I had never known. You can know His mercy…confess and find it!

    What!? Deny Myself?

God has a plan for each person’s life, but pride kills our ability to follow God’s plan. 1 Peter 5:5 and James 4:6 warn us that God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud. From Genesis to Revelation this warning is echoed over and over again: God hates pride. Proverbs 16:18-19 warns us that pride leads to destruction and a haughty spirit comes before a person falls. This passage goes on to warn that it is better to be lowly and humble than to be rich and proud. Benjamin Franklin said it best. He said, “Humility is a virtue so difficult to grasp that if I should ever attain to it, I would be proud of myself.”

I believe that humility is directly affected by the size of our God. If we think little of God or don’t believe God can direct our lives, we will think that we are able to do a better job than He can or we will be like Nebuchadnezzar who looked at his accomplishments and boasted, “Look what I have done”. God showed Nebuchadnezzar what he amounted to without Him – a mad man who grazed the fields like an animal. When we put God in proper perspective, our self-image will fall into the right perspective. Humility is not hanging your head low and belittling yourself. Humility is depending on the sovereignty of God, understanding that His ways are right, choosing to align ourselves with the will of God and trusting His ability to lead and direct us. It is a never-ending growing process. That is why Jesus made the statement, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23.

    BISHOP B. COURTNEY MCBATH

2 Timothy 5:17 The Elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.

Today is a really cool day! My brother Ricky and I are in Alcoa, Tennessee celebrating McBath day. Our friend and Bishop is being celebrated today in his hometown. They are giving him the key to the city! Last night Ricky and I ate dinner with Bishop McBath and his family, it was a blast. This morning there was a reception at his old high school. He was presented with a jersey from the basketball team and many of his former teachers and schoolmates were there. Then he was able to speak to the students and it was powerful! He took complete control of the moment and shared with them the power of Jesus Chist to change your life. I was overwhelmed by his ability to keep the students engaged. I got about 30 seconds of it on my phone…check it out! (Turn the volume way up) Tonight there is a service at 7pm where they will actually give him the key to the city! Man this is gonna be cool!

    BE REBORN

In John chapter three Jesus is having an interesting conversation. A man named Nicodemous is asking Jesus to explain what he meant by saying you must be born again. How are you born again? Is it possible to be birthed by you mother all over again? In John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Jesus was trying to explain to this religious leader that you and the rest of the Pharisees are missing the point of me being here. I’m not trying to convert you to an ideology or a new way of thinking. I’ve come to make way for you to be reborn. I’m here so that you don’t have to live under the burden of trying to make yourself right. So many Christians struggle with sin because they are trying to make an exterior change without and interior change of natures. If a building has structural problems no amount of landscaping will make the building stronger. You will always struggle with continual sin until you exchange natures through faith in Jesus Christ.

    Lift Up Your Eyes

This week we are celebrating our 23rd Anniversary as a church! In 23 years we have seen a lot of the good and some of the bad, but God has been faithful every step of the way. I was 6 years old when the church started. Now, I have a son (Judah) who is six years old! The theme for our conference is “Lift Up Your Eyes”. We our taking this weekend to focus on our responsibility as laborers in the harvest and to pray that The LORD of the Harvest would send more laborers. Pastor Brian Greene and Pastor Don Shilts have preached wonderful and challenging sermons. I believe that we are going to see great results because God has really met us this weekend. Thanks for reading…Love Ya and God Bless! You can click on the image to see it better…

    Are You In Prison?

Psalm 34:8-10 8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 9 Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. 10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

ARE YOU IN PRISON? You are if you feel better when you have more and worse when you have less. You are if joy is one delivery away, one reward away, one makeover away, or one tax refund away. If your happiness comes from something you deposit, drive, drink, or digest, you must face it. YOU ARE IN PRISON! John Maxwell said it is “The Prison Of Want”. The Good News is that you can get out. And it won’t take three seasons (obnoxious show “Prison Break”) to do it. Make God your first pursuit and you will want for nothing!
